Cory! Cory!

Mrs. Aquino came to power through what amounted to popular acclaim — she called it “people power” — expressed by huge crowds that gathered in support of her. Her popularity reached its peak during her presidential campaign against Mr. Marcos in January 1986, when she was surrounded by enthusiastic crowds chanting, “Cory! Cory! Cory!’”

tribute to cory – “made me proud to be filipino”

from jcgosj at youtube:

he was swept to power by the world’s first peaceful revolution, the People Power EDSA Revolution of 1986. From Boston, she returned home with her children in 1983 to bury her husband, Ninoy Aquino, who had been assassinated in the airport tarmac and in a breathtaking turn of events, led her people in dismantling the Marcos dictatorship and became the Philippines’ first woman president.

Now, grateful for all that she has done, we pray for Cory as she battles her illness. Yellow ribbons, the symbol of the opposition movement she led in 1986, are sprouting in places physical and virtual. We thank the Lord for sending us this widow who wrapped her grief over her assassinated husband with faith and turned it into infectious courage.

I put this together from all sorts of YouTube videos and pictures on line. This is my tribute to the widow who led the nation in braving that storm. She made me proud to be Filipino.

president cory aquino’s speech at US Congress – a page in philippine history

On September 18, 1986, just 7 months after she was swept to power by a popular revolt against dictator Ferdinand Marcos, president Corazon C. Aquino addressed the joint session of the United States Congress during her first visit to the country since she came home to bury slain opposition leader and husband Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino, Jr. in August 1983.

what Juana Change want to change

JUANA CHANGE:
She’s Everyone with lots of humor

MANILA, Philippines—She is a God-fearing government fixer, a fortune-telling Sto. Niño, and a domestic helper on a plane sitting beside another OFW who looks suspiciously like Jose Rizal.

She is you and me and everyone in between. She is Juana Change. And just like the Filipino she represents, she wants genuine change.

She communicates her serious message by making people laugh and reflect: What the hell has gone wrong in this country?

Juana Change, played by 46-year-old theater actress and video producer Mae Paner, is a character who rose to cyber stardom through her political satires uploaded on the free video sharing site, YouTube.

“Our goal is to encourage people to act, to get involved and to stand up for our country. We want people to realize that we all have a responsibility,” Paner says.

According to its website (http://juanachange.org), a group of creative artists, advocates, activists and communicators who call themselves The Convergence Team, developed Juana Change and filmed short “virals” of vignettes that depict what we have become as Filipinos.

The group now goes by the name Artists Revolution and includes members such as TV commercial director Sockie Fernandez, independent film producer Raymund Lee and musician Jim Paredes.

pay attention to the spontaneous reaction of the male back-up singer on the left side of charice at around 1:50 to 1:57 of the video time stamp.

there are a lot of reactions that celine gave but pay special attention to her reaction at around 2:23 to 2:37 of the time stamp.

Rin On The Rox’s first single

*FYI* This was a HOME MADE VIDEO just to clear that up for everyone who thinks this was supposed to be professionally done. We wanted to have a FUN and ENTERTAINING music video for the RELEASE of our FIRST SONG. We’re not making any money from all of this, so everything we’ve been doing has been possible through our friends and family. Many people spent a lot of time and effort in making this video for us, so we would really appreciate it if everyone just took the video for what it is, which is just a HOME VIDEO to PROMOTE our FIRST SINGLE… =D
